Not that anyone who was alive on September 11th, 2001 would ever forget the events that took place, there are 9/11 Charities That Help Us Never Forget. After the 10th anniversary of the day that changed our lives forever, how could I not mention the charities that help us never forget.
Admittedly, I am cheating here - you see, I'm supposed to pick one charity and make it the "Charity of the Month", however, in this case, I cannot pick. I really cannot. There are too many good 9/11 charities to mention (and many bad ones, so you must do your homework.)
The first charity - Tuesday's Children get's its name from the day of the week that the events of September 11th took place. On that day, over 3,000 children lost a parent. Tuesday's Children describes the group as a "Non-profit organization providing support and services for the children of 9/11 and others impacted by global terrorism." The added emphasis is mine. This is a GLOBAL charity. Children all over the world benefit from it, and terrorism affects many, many children.
The next charity - Voices of September 11 brings together the families of victims and offers support for them. There is of course the online living memorial, and Voices also offers support programs and memorial events.
The Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation does double duty - it pays homage to a hero, and offers scholarships to affected children for higher education. Michael Lynch was a firefighter with Engine 40, Ladder 35 on September 11th - he was one of 12 members of his team to die. Perhaps the best reason to support 9/11 charities came from Jack Lynch - Michael's Father "The act that killed him was evil, I felt that we had to find a good response to that evil."
Please support 9/11 charities.
